AFA (Victoria) – ‘Contact’ Newsletter

The RAAF is very close to my heart – and when the opportunity arose to provide communications support to this important non-profit member association… I flew at the chance.

Air Force Association (Victoria)

The Air Force Association was established almost 100 years ago to foster the spirit of friendship formed on Service, to commemorate the honour and ideals of the Royal Australian Air Force and provide support to members in need.

About the project

According to AFA Victoria, their newsletter “Contact” no longer reflected the brand of the organisation. It had become tired, was less engaging and needed a complete overhaul to engage members – old and new. The challenge to ensure the volunteer editor remained engaged and involved, whilst instituting some significant changes to the look and content was significant.

Idaho developed a new look for the newsletter, again based on Air Force brand to maintain the important connection with the Service. A focus on human interest stories and the Association’s key pillars of Fellowship, Advocacy Commemoration and Support become the focus. A new communication process was instituted where Idaho liaised with contributors and reviewed and edited content and images to maintain content consistency. The existing editor continues to put the newsletter together based in a new template. Since the changes, there has been a noted increase in the number of contributions and positive feedback from readers.
